Good afternoon, Eaton families! Here is your Monday Minute for the week of September 22nd.
1. We are in week 2 of our Read-a-thon collection for our big fundraiser. We have several great prizes like a special parents’ night out, the royal court parade, and fast pass at the carnival. This week in our school wide book study we are reading chapters 4-7 of “The Lemonade War”. Here is a conversation starter to connect our book to home you that you could try this week: Evan seems to lose money as soon as he gets it. Do you ever have trouble keeping your money? What are some good strategies for how to save money when you have some?
2. We have several opportunities over the next month for volunteering. We will have our next parent meeting on September 30th in the cafeteria at 10:00 for anyone willing to volunteer to help. 3. Friday will be the Rocket Reporter so be sure to tune in for announcements from our talented team.

Here are some pictures from 4th grades virtual field trip with Captains Mike and Josh from Epic Airboat Tours! We learned firsthand all about how invasive species are taking over the native habitat and ecosystems of the Florida Everglades and their impacts on the native animals that call it home. Captain Mike even caught a large male Green Iguana(seen in one of the photos) while we were on the call! The kids were impressed.
An interesting fact they told us is that around 95% of all furred animals (bear, deer, and Florida Panthers just to name a few) in the Everglades have disappeared due to all the different invasive species taking over! Students (and their teachers) were shocked by this statistic! This was such a great way to wrap up our ecosystem unit in science.
