Hello Rockets!

Welcome Rockets!
My name is Mrs. Roe and I will be guiding you through adventures in Kindergarten this year. This will be my fifth year teaching at EES and my second year in Kindergarten. I was born and raised in Maryville and still live there now with my husband Kevin, son Lennox, and two dogs Rocco and Dezi. Some of my favorite things include playing outside with my son, reading, cooking, and learning new things.
This year you can expect to learn so many new things, while always remembering that the key to success is hard work and determination. We will be a family this year, and I cannot wait to learn and grow right along with you. If you ever have questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me through e-mail or give me a call.

Happy Monday Rockets!
If your child is in Mrs. Hutchings homeroom you may have seen on my lesson map for this week that we have a Social Studies test on Thursday. When I was making plans for this week I forgot that we actually have the carnival kick off that day, so the test will actually be on Monday of next week. This will give the students more time to study so please encourage them to spend time this upcoming weekend studying. I also wanted to remind both of my classes that our AR goals are due next Monday (September 26th). Please make sure your student is reading for 20 minutes every night, or more if you feel like they are in danger of not meeting their goal. The student should know where they stand regarding AR points and conferences. The AR celebration will be held on October 7th, which is the Friday before fall break. I will be sending out emails asking for parents who are willing to send snacks on this day so be thinking if that is something you can do.
Thank you and have a fabulous week!

AR Halfway Mark

I wanted to alert you all that we are past the half way point to meet our AR goals. The students have three more weeks to meet their goal. Please check your students Eaton folder each Friday for their AR progress. On the sheet stapled to the back of the take home side you will find how many points your student accrued over the past week as well as a printed out report of the quizzes they have taken. At this point if you are looking at that sheet and only seeing 1 or 2 points (or less) I am worried they might not meet their AR goal by the deadline, which will result in them not attending our AR celebration. Please encourage your child to read AT LEAST 20 minutes a night, or maybe more if you think they are at risk for not meeting their goal. I am encouraging them to read here daily. September 19th will begin our last lap and I will post another reminder here when that time comes.
Thanks for all you do,
Ms. Caylor

Books and AR Goals

Good Morning and Happy Monday!
I wanted to ask for your help on reminding your student to bring their book with them to school everyday. I ask that the students first read their library books and bring those with them. If they finish the book they have checked out in the school library then they are welcome to check out a book from my classroom library and take that back and forth between home and school. It is crucial to remember to bring the books back and forth between home and school each day. This way they can complete their homework of reading twenty minutes a night and also make good use of the S.Q.U.I.R.T. time we have built into our class time daily. All of these things will help them to meet their AR goal for the nine weeks.
Thanks for all you do and have a great week!

Friday folders

Happy Tuesday morning!
I wanted to leave a quick note regarding your student's Eaton folder. If your child is in my home room I will hold folder until Friday that way I can send everything home on Friday (unless it is something time sensitive) and get them all back on Monday. If they have Mrs. Hutchings for homeroom I will still send any information from my class home on Fridays to be returned on Monday or by the due date, and then they will follow her procedures for the folders other than that.
Please make sure that you are looking over what we send home each week so you don't miss out on any important information/events. Starting this Friday you will find a log stapled into your child's folder regarding how many AR points your student has earned for that week. This sheet will need to be signed every Friday and returned with the folder on Monday. I will remind students on Friday and send a reminder on Dojo as well.
Thanks for all you do,
Ms. Caylor
