Carnival Information

Dear Parents and Guardians,

         We are SO excited to kick-off our big Eaton fundraiser for the 2016–2017 school year! Thank you for your constant support of your children and our school. This year’s fundraiser is going to be new and exciting as we host our 2nd Annual Eaton School Carnival along with our first ever Read-a-Thon on Friday, October 21. Please review the information in this packet with your child about our upcoming events.

These events are going to be an opportunity for your friends, family, and the whole community to come and join us for a fun evening, as well as supporting our school through pledging donations for our Read-a-Thon! We will have fun for everyone with games, entertainment, food, and much more at our carnival! We will also spend the morning reading for our Read-a-Thon. Our students will ask friends and family to pledge donations for them to read for 2 ½ hours on the morning of the carnival. We will have students from North Middle, and members of the community also come and read to our classes. We are very excited to wear our pajamas, get comfy, and READ! Our goal with the funds we raise is to purchase laptops and iPads for our students to use in the classroom. Every penny earned through this event will go right back into your child’s education.

Eaton Elementary School Read-A-Thon

 

Kick-Off Assembly-September 23: Students will learn about the Read-A-Thon, Eaton Carnival, and all the prizes and games.

 

Solicit Pledges: Attached is a pledge form so your student can begin collecting immediately from friends and family—NO door-to-door solicitation or from unknown persons. You can collect pledges up until Wednesday, October 19th to be eligible for the prizes. Your child will need to turn in the form to their teacher along with the donations (cash or checks made to Eaton Elementary). We will not be collecting per hour/book read, instead will be requesting a flat donation for the event. Please include the completed form and donations in the manila envelope on or before October 19th.

 

Read-A-Thon Event: On the morning of October 21, from 8:30-11:30 our entire school will participate in our Read-A-Thon. Every student will spend the morning reading independently, reading with a friend, or listening to a teacher or community member read to them. Students will be able to wear their pajamas and bring a stuffed animal and pillow to make the reading time more cozy.

If you would like to volunteer to read to your child’s class, please let your child’s teacher know as soon as possible.
