22-23 Monday Minutes

7/11/2022

Good evening, Eaton families. We hope everyone is having a great summer break. This if your official first Monday Minute for the 2022-2023 school year. This message is jammed packed with dates, links, and reminders for you.

  1. July 22nd: 1st-4th grade parents will be able to log onto Skyward to find out your child’s teacher for the 22-23 school year. The program is currently locked until that time. If you don’t know your username and password you can reset it by going to Login - Powered by Skyward (tnk12.gov) and clicking on forgot username/password. Skyward is linked with your email we use for Skylert. You can also call our school Monday-Thursday between 8am-3pm at 865-986-2420 to get your log-in and password.  July 18th we will mail kindergarten letters that will detail any items that are missing and your child’s teacher.
  2. August 1st is registration day. We do ask that all returning students come on registration day. We have found having students come reduces anxiety prior to the first day of school, reduces confusion, allows families to meet the teacher, bring school supplies, and we ensure all yearly paperwork is completed accurately. On July 27th your child’s teacher will call to schedule a registration time with you. We’ve decided to continue with appointments because we’ve found it allows for families to speak with teacher and not be overwhelmed. New students will need to bring registration documents between 8-2:30, which can be found here New Student Information – Parents – Eaton Elementary School (loudoncounty.org)
  3. Our supply lists for next year are posted on our website.  Supply Lists – Parents – Eaton Elementary School (loudoncounty.org)
  4. Each grade level will have a parent night where you can learn more about the classroom and grade level expectations, speak with administration, and ask questions.
    • Tuesday, August 2nd – 1st grade @ 5:00
    • Tuesday, August 2nd – 2nd grade @ 6:00
    • Wednesday, August 3rd – 3rd grade @ 5:00
    • Wednesday, August 3rd – 4th grade @ 6:00
    • Tuesday, August 9th – PreK and Kindergarten @ 5:00
  5. Our district is doing a staggered start again for 1st – 4th August 2nd students with the last name A – K and August 3rd students with the last name L – Z. August 4th we will not have school and all students will attend on August 5th. Please note kindergarten and prek stagger start does look different. We have included those details in your letter and your child’s teacher will speak with you in more detail about this during registration day.
  6. Breakfast and Lunch: The waiver that allowed all students to eat free has expired, so please check the website for pricing so you can plan accordingly. Loudon County School District
  7. Traffic Patterns: The traffic pattern will remain the same as last year. If you are new or need a refresher maps and directions can be found here: Traffic Patterns – Parents – Eaton Elementary School (loudoncounty.org)
  8. PTO Leadership: Are you interested in being more active in our PTO next year? We are looking for parents to serve on the board and be committee chairs. If you are interested and want to know more, please email [email protected]. If you submitted the form posted on Facebook earlier this summer, we sent emails last week regarding our first meeting. We want to grow our PTO team so please reach out if you are interested.
  9. Sidewalk Smiles: We are looking for organizations, churches, or small groups to help support our safe drop off program on the sidewalk. First Baptist Church is sponsoring Monday and Tuesday, but we are still looking for other groups to sponsor the remaining days. All you need to do is be willing to greet kiddos with a smile, a warm greeting, and open/close their doors from 7:15-8:00. If you are interested, please email [email protected].
  10. Master School Schedule Reminder:
    • 7:10 our front doors open.
    • 7:45 students will be picked up from bus hall.

I know this was jammed pack with information, but we wanted everyone to be prepared as we start the countdown to the first day of school. We hope that you enjoy the rest of your summer break, and we look forward to seeing everyone soon!

Thank you,

Mrs. Baessler and Eaton Elementary Staff

Good afternoon, Eaton Family. We hope you had a great fall break! We have a busy week at EES, so here are a couple of reminders.

  1. We are in our last week of the Read-a-thon and all grades will be finishing our school-wide book study on “Pirates Past Noontime” this week. Students will need to turn in their read-a-thon donations on Wednesday to qualify for prizes. We have some great prizes this year! A few of those prizes are guest announcer, special shirt, fast pass bracelet for the carnival, prince/princess for the grade level, and an exclusive field trip on the Star of Knoxville! This is our only fundraiser for the year and all the money stays here to support EES.
  2. Today we sent home a presale flyer for Friday’s carnival. The carnival is this Friday from 5-8 and marks the conclusion of the school-wide book study and read-a-thon. The flyer was on a purple sheet of paper. If you preorder your wristband(s) we will have them at “will call” and it is cheaper than buying them at the carnival. We will have a silent auction, 8 food trucks, DJ, game booths, and inflatables. It will be an awesome night and you don’t want to miss it! We have put the presale flyer here if you missed it: https://4.files.edl.io/7e7b/10/17/22/120007-474ef709-4481-44d6-ac79-5b5279f0ff5e.pdf
