Thank you for listening to the “Parent Monday Minute”. We hope everyone stays healthy and enjoys the last few days of July.

Thank you,

8/10/2020

Happy Monday! We have several updates today on our “Parent Monday Minute”.

It has been a great first two days of school. We can’t wait to greet our last group of 1sts through 4th graders tomorrow.

We have parent nights tonight for 1st and 2nd grade tonight. Tuesday we will have 3rd and 4th grades parents’ night. Thursday will be kindergarten and prek. These will all be via Zoom and your teachers will using information out via their class communication tool. If you can’t attend please ask your teacher to send home the handouts or visit their website for information you may have missed.

We have had to raise ice cream prices this year due to Mayfield raising prices. Ice cream will be $1.00 and we will start serving next week.

We are still working through our new dismissal. Thank you for showing us grace and patience as we work through the hiccups. We want this process to move swiftly and everyone to get home safely. Safety is our top priority during dismissal. Since we have suspended early bird, we are trying to be creative. We need your help too, to make this successful. Please forward as far as you can and have your car tag on display until your child is in the car. I know it might be frustrating to wait in your car until the entire line is loaded but we are doing this out of an abundance of caution. Since we are using two lines, we do not want to move the line until all cars are loaded so we don’t risk any student safety. We do not want to risk a child accidentally being hit if we allow some cars to move when students could be crossing to the second lane. Additionally, some of our students are only 4 years old so we want to make sure we are doing everything possible to protect their safety. Lastly, due to COVID restrictions we have student dismissing from their classroom so we can social distance which means it sometimes takes a little longer for them to make their way to the sidewalk. Again, it might slow our process down but these decisions s were made with student safety and health being top priority.

Thank you,

Mrs. Ashley Baessler

Principal

Good afternoon, this is Mrs. Baessler, Principal at Eaton Elementary with your Monday Minute.

We have 3 things for today’s Monday Minute.

  • We will be having a fire drill on Wednesday, so do not be alarmed if your child mentions something about this after school.
  1. We are still perfecting dismissal.
      • Please help us by keeping your car tags posted until your child is in the car.
      • Pull forward as much as you can so we can get all 10 cars into each lane.
      • If you are car 9 and 10 on the outside lane, make sure you swing your vehicle so we can still fill up the inside lane.
      • If you are an NMS and EES family, you want to be in the line in front of NMS (white lane). After picking up your NMS student you will wrap back around to EES and merge with the EES only parents.
      • If you are an EES only family, you want to wrap behind NMS.
  1. Lastly, please be mindful of the car line when getting your child settled in the vehicle.
  2. If you choose in-person learning and your child is staying at home due to a symptom of Covid, please remember if they are well enough, they can still participate with their classroom virtually and receive credit. Please contact the teacher or Mrs. Baessler if you have questions.

Have a great week,

Mrs. Baessler

Good afternoon, this is Mrs. Baessler, Principal at Eaton Elementary with your Monday Minute.

We had a blast last week with spirit week. We have a few updates for this coming week.

  1. We are excited about “On the Farm” tomorrow. We sent home information regarding this optional family engagement activity last week. We cannot wait to see which activity you and your child chose.
  2. Last Friday, we sent home the Read-a-thon Family packet. We will attach it to our weekly email too, in case you missed it. Our goal this year is to update our classroom interactive boards. The boards we currently have are outdated and the software is no longer being supported so the interactive piece is not function properly. We piloted three different options last year and by far teachers preferred this one. We have 15 boards that need to be replaced so our hopes would be to by 5 boards each year for the next three years. The remaining donations collected will go directly to teacher accounts to support classroom learning and school-wide projects. Here is a website so you can see the boards we are hoping to invest in: https://mimio.boxlight.com/procolor-led-display-board/
  3. Drama Club will be filming on Wednesday, so please wear all black for filming.
  4. Be on the lookout for the Rocketeer to come home on Wednesday.
  5. If you are a parent of a virtual student, please call us this week so we can get them set-up to return to in-person classes after fall break.

  1. We have enjoyed reading the first five chapters of “Charlotte’s Web”. We will be reading chapters 6 through 10 this week. We would love it if you talked to your kids about some of the vocabulary words they will come across this week. They are trout, hauled, hoisted, cautiously, jubilee, sedentary, gullible, and crisis.
  2. We sent the Rocketeer home last Wednesday. If you didn’t get a copy, we have placed it on the website and to the weekly email.
  3. Friday will be the last day of the first nine weeks of school. Report cards will be sent home after Fall Break.
  4. Fall Break is next week. We hope everyone has nice, safe, and relaxing break.

Good afternoon, this is Mrs. Baessler, Principal at Eaton Elementary with your Monday Minute. We hope everyone had a blast over fall break.

  1. We have enjoyed reading the first 10 chapters of “Charlotte’s Web”. We will be reading chapters 11-15 this week. Charlotte starts writing words in her web during these chapters, so maybe ask your child what word they think she should write next when they get home from school.
  2. We are still collecting Box Tops. You can scan them in yourself or send them to school. If you have any laying around, please send them by Friday so we can get them turned in for the first grading term.
  3. There is NO LAUNCH tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday), due to teacher training.
  4. Report Cards go home on Thursday. Please sign and return the report card on Friday.
  5. Friday we will be hosting a Mock Election so remember to talk to your child about it this week while around the dinner table.
  6. Picture day is Friday, November 6th.
  7. We want to hear from you! We tried to schedule a Virtual Principals Night in prior to Fall Break but the interest was low. We still want to get your input and would love it if you would complete this short parent survey so we can hear from you: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/EESParentinput2020
  8. We have started raising money for our annual fundraiser. Our goal this year is to update our classroom interactive boards. We have tons of great prizes and we hope to start spinning our prize wheel on Monday, October 26th during lunch.

Good afternoon, this is Mrs. Baessler, Principal at Eaton Elementary with your Monday Minute. We are excited for the events that are taking place over the next several weeks.

  1. We have enjoyed reading “Charlotte’s Web”. We will be reading chapters 16-20 this week. They are off to the fair during these chapters so ask your child about what is taking place and use their senses and feelings to describe it.
  2. Picture day is Friday, November 6th for all students. We will be notifying virtual students this week when and how they should arrive for their pictures.
  3. We are raising money for our annual fundraiser. Our goal this year is to update our classroom interactive boards and give teachers more classroom funds. We have tons of great prizes and we started spinning the prize wheel today. We understand many parents wait till the last week to turn money in and that is acceptable. We have only raised about a tenth of our goal at this time so please continue to collect money for our annual read-a-thon and turn it in by next Monday. Only 5 school days left!!!!
  4. Our silent auction went live today. Please check out the amazing baskets and projects at 32auctions.com/EES2020/ . Share the link with your family and friends too!
  5. Friday some classrooms will be celebrating Halloween. Students may wear costumes to school on Friday but they must abide by our dress code policy, revealing or inappropriate clothing, no weapons, nothing scary, and if it becomes a distraction to the classroom or school environment they will be asked to change.
  6. Lastly, we will also be hosting a Veteran’s day drive-thru parade with North Middle school on Veteran’s Day. The parade will take place at 10:00. We will send out more details and direction closer to the event.
  7. Have a great week,

Mrs. Baessler

11/2/2020

Good afternoon, this is Mrs. Baessler, Principal at Eaton Elementary with your Monday Minute. We are excited for the events that are taking place over the next several weeks.

  1. Thank you for the donations our Read-a-thon. We should know the total raised in the coming weeks. If your child earned a EES Grab bag, fanny pack, shirt, or other specialty items those will be coming in the next few weeks. Our distributor is working on getting those items to us as quickly as possible. We will still be spinning on Wednesday because we were not able to get to everyone today.
  2. Congratulations to Mrs. Couk, Mrs. Moroz, and Mrs. Smith for having 100% participation. We have an extra recess and fun surprise for your rooms.
  3. Read-a-thon is Thursday so come dressed in your comfy clothes for a day of reading. Please wear tennis shoes as we will be walking the track that day too.
  4. Our Virtual Silent Auction closes on Thursday. We are adding more pictures to some item tomorrow so you can have a better view of the goodies. Make sure you also scroll through the art projects too because these make great additions in your homes, memories for your kids, or great presents for Christmas to your child’s teacher so they can remember the class for years to come. Please share the link with your family and friends so they can bid on some of these amazing items: 32auctions.com/EES2020/ .
  5. Picture day is Friday, November 6th for all students. Virtual Students can come from 11:20-12:00 for your pictures. Please come to the gym foyer doors at the back of the school. Mrs. Hattley or Mrs. Bevins will escort your child to take their picture and spin the prize wheel if you turned in Read-a-thon money. We are going to ask parents to wait outside so we are limited the contact within the building.
  6. Popcorn with my Peeps is our November Family Engagement Event. We will be sending home popcorn math and science activities you can do with your student at home and then bring the completed activity to school by November 12th. Students will be able to share with their class their findings. It may sound “corny”, but it’s going to be a “popping” time. . . so you “butter” get started!
  7. Lastly, we will also be hosting a Veteran’s day drive-thru parade with North Middle school on Veteran’s Day. We have edited the start time. We would love to have our Veteran’s gather at the back of Central United Methodist parking lot at 9:15. At 9:30 the School Resource Officer will lead the parade through North Middle School and Eaton elementary so our students can celebrate them.
  8. Don’t forget that there is no school tomorrow for Election day.

Have a great week,

Mrs. Baessler

11/10/2020

Good afternoon, this is Mrs. Baessler, Principal at Eaton Elementary with your Monday Minute on a Tuesday.

  1. We are having a virtual Veteran’s day assembly tomorrow for all grade levels. We will post the video after our programs. We will also be hosting a parade at 9:30 for our Veteran’s to drive thru while our students congratulate Veteran’s for their service. We have altered this slightly due to the weather and will only have a select few classrooms from each grade level outside under the awning since rain is expected. We will be streaming it to our classrooms inside.
  2. Our Read-a-thon was a blast last week and our Silent Auction did well too. Our goal was to raise $35,000 to purchase 5 new classroom boards, school beautification, student good behavior parties, staff appreciation events, and give teachers classroom money to spend in January 2021 and start-up money in August 2021. Once we have paid all our Read-a-thon expenses we will have a final number and right now we are anticipating it to be around $20,000 so we will adjust our fundraiser budget accordingly. We had 36% of our school participate in this year’s fundraiser.
  3. Popcorn with my Peeps is our November Family Engagement Event. Please remember to send in those completed science and math activities by Thursday, November 12th.
  4. Parent/Teacher conferences will be on Thursday, November 19. If you have not scheduled a time with your teacher be sure to set up a virtual appointment so you can know how your student is preforming.
  5. Thank you to all the parents who completed our parent survey. Our leadership team looked over all of those today.

Do not forget to wear red, white, and blue tomorrow!

Have a great week,

Mrs. Baessler

11/16/2020

Good afternoon, this is Mrs. Baessler, Principal at Eaton Elementary with your Monday Minute.

  1. Parent/Teacher conferences will be on Thursday, November 19. If you have not scheduled a time with your teacher be sure to set up a virtual appointment so you can know how your student is preforming.
  2. Thanksgiving Break is November 25 through 27 and all students (In-person and Florida Virtual) will NOT have school those days.
  3. Picture retake day will be Monday, November 30th. This is the Monday after Thanksgiving Break so do not let it sneak up on you. If you child needs to retake their photo or missed picture day, please make sure you child’s homeroom teacher knows so we do not miss anyone.
  4. Quick reminder about arrival and dismissal: During arrival please remember we are not having parents walk their children to school this year and all parents need to use the car drop-off line unless given approval by administration. Our traffic flow has been much better this year due to the limited pedestrians foot traffic. We are also all hands-on deck to make our dismissal run smoothly. Every staff member has job during this time so it is imperative that if you need to check your child out that it is done prior to 2:30. Our staff starts switching gears after 2:30 to ensure everything runs smoothly and a late checkout can impede our process.

Have a great week,

Mrs. Baessler

12/7/2020

Good afternoon, this is Mrs. Baessler, Principal at Eaton Elementary with your Monday Minute. We had an exciting week last week as we were named a ESEA National Distinguished School. 1. The December Rocketeer went home last week. We have attached it to the weekly email in case you missed it.
  2. Please continue to contact us if you have a household member being tested or if a student has been exposed so we can follow the proper steps. We want to keep everyone healthy leading into the holiday season, but we need your partnership to make this happen.
  3. We are participating in the 12 days of Kindness challenge.
    • Tuesday – Thank someone for being kind to you
    • Wednesday – Write a happy note or draw a picture for someone
    • Thursday – Offer to share something with a friend without being asked
    • Friday – Share a joke to make someone smile

We hope your family is staying healthy and please reach out if we can be of any help.

Have a great week,

  7. February Rocketeer will come home on Friday, so check your child’s backpack for all the happenings in February.

Good afternoon, this is Mrs. Baessler, Principal at Eaton Elementary with your Monday Minute.

  1. We sent home the Rocketeer on Friday, but we have also uploaded it to our website if you did not get a copy. https://4.files.edl.io/9eb9/02/02/21/191941-d788c210-c700-402b-a157-234d0a3627ea.pdf
  2. Starting Friday, we will be selling candy grams for Valentine’s Day. Candy grams will be available at lunch for 25 cents and students can send them to anyone in the building. We will stop selling on Wednesday, February 10 after lunch. We would love donations of Hershey kisses to attach to the candy grams. If you decide to donate, please have your child drop these off in the office.
  3. Parent/Teacher conferences are virtually on Thursday from 3:30-6:30. We would love 100% attendance so please sign up with your teacher if you have not already.
  4. We will not have afternoon LAUNCH on Thursday due to Parent/Teacher conferences.
  5. Valentines day is approaching, and we wanted to make everyone aware that we will not be accepting deliveries to the school for Valentine’s Day. Our school has a large population of students and deliveries can be overwhelming to us. Please enjoy those special deliveries at home with your child. I guarantee they love those too!

We hope your family is staying healthy and please reach out if we can be of any help.

Have a great week,

Mrs. Baessler
