Monday Minute

7/26/2021

Happy Monday! We have several updates today on our “Parent Monday Minute”.

  1. We have registration day around the corner. If you are already enrolled at Eaton the homeroom teacher will be calling you on July 29th to set up a registration appointment time for August 2nd. This is a great time to bring classroom supplies and have the student meet the teacher before the first day of school. We’ve noticed in the past this helps reduce student anxiety about coming to school.
  2. Our District released the stagger start for 1st through 4th
    • Wednesday, August 4 - Last Name A-G
    • Thursday, August 5 - Last Name H-N
    • Friday, August 6 - Last Name O-Z
    • Monday, August 9 - All students
    • Kindergarten and PreK will follow a different stagger start and your child’s homeroom teacher will give you more details on registration day.
  3. Master School Schedule Reminder:
    • 7:10 our front doors open.
    • 7:45 students will be picked up from bus hall.
    • 7:50 announcements will begin.
    • 8:00 the school day starts, and instruction will begin in all classrooms.
    • 2:55 Top 80 EES only cars released.
    • 3:05 Buses
    • 3:10 Parent Pickup (EES only and NMS/EES cars)
    • 3:40 All students should be picked up
  4. Parent Pickup – you will need a hanging car tag. Please keep this hanging until your child is in the car.
  5. We have posted our re-opening plan to our school website if you have any questions about our protocols this year. http://ees.loudoncounty.org/apps/news/article/1467959
  6. Arrival and Dismissal can be tricky so please check our website for updated maps for the traffic patterns. http://ees.loudoncounty.org/apps/news/article/1467963

Happy Monday! We have several updates today on our “Parent Monday Minute”.

  1. Kindergarten and PreK have started this week which means our traffic flow is increasing. We would suggest trying to arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 so you child can make it to class before announcements start at 7:50. Please remember to have your child’s belongings ready when you pull in front of the school. We encourage your student to be ready to unbuckle, unlock, and hop out of the car.
  2. Parent Pickup – you will need a hanging car tag. Please keep this hanging until your child is in the car. Also, please remind your child wait until the staff members says its time before moving to the car.
  3. Kindergarten and PreK open house on Tuesday night will be in-person in the café. We host their open house differently compared to the other grade levels because families had one-on-one meetings with families last week.
  4. We are attaching two documents to this weeks Monday Minute email: Parent Night presentation and Run Lil Loco flyer.
  5. Boohoo Breakfast, hosted by PTO, will take place on Wednesday at 8:45 on the front picnic tables. We hope you join us.
  6. We will be practicing our fire drill procedures school wide on Friday.

If you missed any part of the Monday Minute please check your email, our Facebook page, or website for those details.

Happy Monday! We have several updates today on our “Parent Monday Minute”.

  1. We need grocery bags for our Friday food backpacks. If you would like to donate, please send them to the office.
  2. We need substitutes this year. If you would like to apply, please reach out to Mrs. Housley for an application or email [email protected].
  3. 4th /5th grade girls’ basketball will be having open gym and try outs this month at Highland Park. The flyer is on our Facebook and website page.
  4. We understand that the beginning of the year traffic on our campus can be very frustrating and that the initial wait times are long. Between NMS and EES, we have approximately 1600 students with a small percentage riding the bus. This year, both schools have increased enrollment, thus adding more cars to our lines in the morning and afternoon. Please know that we do our best to dismiss all our students as quickly and efficiently as possible. Safety is our number one goal in all aspects of our day. The traffic map can be found on our website or Facebook page. Please be patient as we work to improve each day and get every child home safely.
  5. A few tips for arrival and dismissal:
    • Please pull forward as far as you can to the car in front of you.
    • Make sure your student(s) have all their belongings in their hands and ready to exit.
    • We are asking all students to be dropped off and picked up in the car line and not to walk up on the sidewalk. This disrupts the flow of traffic and our ability to call students to their spot smoothly.
    • If you need to check out, please make it before 2:30. At 2:30 we switch into dismissal mode and our traffic becomes more congested.
    • Keep your car tag hanging until your child is in the car.

If you missed any part of the Monday Minute please check your email, our Facebook page, or website for those details.

Thank you,

Mrs. Baessler

  1. LAUNCH flyers went home on Friday. LAUNCH will be running differently this year. We have a few clubs. We will have a group of 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th grade that will stay after school each day. The teacher hosting that day will determine the activities for the group.
  2. We need substitutes this year. If you would like to apply, please reach out to Mrs. Housley for an application or email [email protected].
  3. We will do a fire drill on Friday. When we run this drill we will be conducting it with the alarm.
  4. Girl Scouts will have their round up meeting tomorrow at 5:30.
  5. Reminders about arrival and dismissal:
      • Please pull forward as far as you can to the car in front of you.
      • Make sure your student(s) have all their belongings in their hands and ready to exit.
      • We are asking all students to be dropped off and picked up in the car line and not to walk up on the sidewalk. This disrupts the flow of traffic and our ability to call students to their spot smoothly.
      • If you need to check out, please make it before 2:30. At 2:30 we switch into dismissal mode and our traffic becomes more congested.

  1. Grandparents’ day dinner is set for Friday. Families had to pre-register for this event and registration is now closed. Our PTO will be sending home detailed information this week regarding arrival time to all families who registered. We will be having a staggered arrival time based on your last name to help monitor the amount of people we have in the building at a time. Additionally, we will be assigning table numbers, when you check in, to assist with social distancing.  If you have questions, please email our PTO at [email protected] .
  2. Rocketeer for September was sent home last Tuesday. We have attached an electronic copy to the Monday Minute email and our website. 4. All students should be dropped off and picked up via the car line in front of the school. Parents should not be walking their child to or from the school. Additionally, the only parents using the side lot should be PreK due to those parents having to sign their child in and out of school.
  5. Thursday is Parent/Teacher conferences from 3:30-6:30. There will be no afterschool LAUNCH on Thursday due to conferences.
  6. Our annual fundraiser kickoff begins next week with a spirit week, September 13-17. On Monday we will dress in school spirit day, Tuesday is hat day, Wednesday is wacky day, Thursday is decades day, and Friday is dress like an animal day. Friday we will have kickoff celebration and Read-a-thon donation packets will go home. Our fundraiser consists of three parts: Read-a-thon, Auction (baskets and class art projects), and Carnival. This year our entire school will be reading “Stuart Little” from September 20-October 21. On October 22nd we will have an all-day Read-a-thon, an honorary walk around the track in memory of Mary Lee Wampler Hitch, live announcements, and a parade to crown our prince and princess for each grade level. The Read-a-thon will conclude October 22 with a Carnival on the track out back from 5-8. We hope you make plans to join us.

  2. Huge shout out to Lenoir City Fire and Kelli Branam with Loudon County Emergency Management Agency for donating us two lights on Friday night. We could not be successful without their amazing support and donation!
  3. We want to thank the Lenoir City Fire Department for hosting several sessions today on fire safety for our Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd
  4. Due to the forecasted weather kindergarten has also moved their field trip to Wednesday instead of Thursday.
  5. Halloween is this coming weekend. We are allowing students to wear costumes on Friday; however, they must adhere to our dress code policy. Please keep in mind there should not be any mask, weapons, blood, or scary costumes. If the costume or anything associated with the costume becomes a distraction to the learning environment, students may be asked to change, or a phone call home will be made to bring new clothes.
  6. Please keep an eye out for the Rocketeer to come home on Friday. It will have an update from the office, PTO, and the café.
  7. Veterans Day is about 3 weeks away and we are going to do our Veteran’s Day parade again. Happy Monday! Here are your “Parent Monday Minute” updates for this week.

  1. November Family Engagement Activity went home last week. Make sure to send them back by November 19th. We will decorate the office windows with the student work submitted. Here is a link in case the activity doesn’t make it home: http://ees.loudoncounty.org/apps/news/article/1525627
  2. We are NOT having LAUNCH or tutoring this Thursday afternoon due to Parent/Teacher conferences.
  3. During arrival, please make sure you are pulling as close as you can to the car in front and all the way down. We do have staff on the sidewalk but please allow your child to exit the car, once you have pulled in front of the school, without a staff member. Please do not wait on the staff member to open the door. We want to keep the line moving and this will be very helpful and won’t cause backups.
  4. Lastly, as the weather changes please make sure you child has their name in their belongings. Occasionally, it is cold in the morning but once they go outside and play it warms up. This is often when jackets and other belongings get lost. It helps us find the owners if there is a name located inside the jacket.

If you missed any part of the Monday Minute please check your email, our Facebook page, or website for those details.

Thank you,

Mrs. Baessler

Happy Monday! Here are your “Parent Monday Minute” updates for this week.

1. PreK and Kindergarten will celebrate the 100th day of school on Friday.

2. We will be hosting P/T conferences on Thursday, February 3rd. Due to the increased number of COVID cases in our area we moved these conferences to virtual and phone conference only. If you didn’t sign up for a time last week, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

3. There will be NO LAUNCH on Thursday due to P/T conferences.

4. The February Rocketeer will go home today and call also be found on our website.

5. We are gearing up for our “Art to Remember” projects. We need markers (broad line markers) for STEAM class where they will create these amazing projects. Please send them by Friday, February 18th!

6. Loudon County Coordinated School Health is offering FREE COVID testing at the Loudon County Technology Center. Your child must be symptomatic at time of testing. If you have any questions, please reach out to them at 865-986-2036.

7. All our classrooms are now equipped with Boxlight boards. We’ve been struggling the last couple years to replace our old interactive boards that weren’t working and often shutdown during lessons. Thank you to ESSER fund and our technology department for helping us with this much needed upgrade.
